Corey Grazul

February 2, 2010

This upcoming Sunday February 7th will be the last day for Corey Grazul as the student ministries pastor at Family Bible Church.  Corey will be greatly missed here but has a great opportunity to serve God in a new place God is calling him to.

Below is the letter Corey sent home to the parents of students last week:

1/25/10

Dear parents,

As I’m certain you know, understanding God’s will is…well…difficult sometimes.  Sometimes God’s will is actually difficult and sometimes it is our interpretation of God’s will that makes it such a challenging thing to understand.  With that said, the past few months for Kendall and I have been a whirlwind as we have anxiously anticipated the life changes that would be taking place upon her graduation from college.  Knowing that the near future would be filled with many important decisions Read the rest of this entry »

Shoes for Matipane

January 25, 2010

In February a team from FBC will journey to South Africa for a fact finding trip to the village we have adopted as a church.  This team will meet the orphans who have been adopted and discover how we can best serve them.

We have already collected over 300 pairs of shoes to take to meet the need of this village.  We will continue to collect them for the next few weeks.

Giving to Haiti

January 25, 2010

Last Sunday FBC donated just under $5,000 toward relief in Haiti.  This money was forwarded to our neighbor Crossroads Church and Ministries to be sent to Pastor Jean Carlo Thomas, founder of New World Mission in Haiti.  Crossroads, FBC, and a few other churches sent over $20,000 of supplies to meet the need of those in Haiti.  We praise God for how he moved on the church and continue to pray for those in Haiti.

Hurt, Hard Times, and HOPE-Week One

October 4, 2009

hhh

Today we began an eight week journey through the Beatitudes in Matthew 5.  We are using the Beatitudes as a spring board to talk about our brokenness and the Hope and healing Jesus wants to do in and through our lives.

Today Pastor Gerten shared a message called “The Reality Choice”.  He shared we live a plastic existence where “everything is ok” and we do not allow our real self to be seen.  Our personal persistent problems are often the hardest to deal with and we grow to accept them as normal.

We must ask the question, “What pulls me away from God?”

What is it for you?

Jesus said, “Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven”

The three points:

  1. I must humbly admit I need help.
  2. I must humbly ask God for help.
  3. I must humbly accept help from other people.

Upcoming October and November Series

September 21, 2009

indexmain

We will be wrapping up “Origins” next week.  The series following is titled, “Hurt, Hard Times, and HOPE”.  This eight week series will focus in on the hurts, habits, hang-ups, and hard times we face in life and ultimately the HOPE we have in and through Jesus Christ.

There are many choices we make each day.  When it comes to hurt, hard times, and hope we pray that during this two month period many new and Christ honoring choices will be made.
